But.... she is a bigot....

Everyone's going mad about Gordon's mess up yesterday when he was caught saying a women he spoke to was a bigot.  She was, is, always will be I expect.  What annoys me is that he went mental apologising for it when it was the perfect opportunity to explain why he said what he said.  Attitudes like hers are unhelpful at best, hate-crime inciting at worst - all very Daily Mail, why didn't he say he was sorry for what he said, but...

Some people won't even know what a bigot is - so instead of making it sound as bad as if he'd called her a Nazi, he could have gone into the meaning and the relation of the meaning to modern society.  Wasted opportunity.
